The other day my mum told me she read something about Lesser Redpoll liking to hang around with Goldfinches. Later on I saw a group of Goldfinches and different bird sat on the bird feeder. I got my camera and took a few photos, it is often easier to identify the birds when you can zoom in. To my surprise, it was a male and female Lesser Redpoll! Lesser Redpolls Lesser Redpolls are on the red list . They have a wingspan of up to 22.5cm and weigh 12g. There are 220,000 UK breeding pairs. They eat s eeds, particularly off birch and alder, plus plants like willowherb and sorrel, but they also visit bird feeders.
